GRAIN AND DUAL PURPOSE CORN VARIETIES

FOR 2010 PLANTINGS

GG 23902 - 72 days 2275 C.H.U.

Medium tall plant on a good stalk for combining or early silage.  This hybrid has a big girthy non-flex ear with heavy yellow kernels.   It flowers early and has good plant health and good early vigor.  When GG23902 nears harvest the husks open slightly for quicker dry down.  An extremely good, high yielding corn for its maturity.  For a short time this hybrid can be ordered with the regular seed treatment namely with Maxim XL; otherwise it is only available treated with Poncho 250 with a $15.00/unit surcharge.  Plant for 25,000 P.P.A. at harvest.  Limited seed supply.

GG 6730 - 73 days 2350 C.H.U.

Medium tall early grain corn - Fast out of the ground in the spring and exhibits excellent plant health and disease resistance right through till harvest.  A flint dent kernel on a long tapered fixed flex ear.  This variety dries down much faster than other early corns of this type.  Plant for 27,000 PPA at harvest.  Limited seed supply.

GG 43222 - 75 days 2450 C.H.U.

Medium tall plant mainly for grain but also makes nice silage because it exhibits a heavy plant structure.  A semi flex ear with heavy dark yellow kernels.  Excellent emergence and stalk strength with very good roots and plant health.  Only available treated with Poncho 250 with a $15.00/unit surcharge.  Plant for 27,500 P.P.A. at harvest.  Fairly limited seed supply.

GG 3789 - 76 days 2475 C.H.U.

Medium tall, early flowering grain hybrid.  Very good to excellent dry down, yield, drought tolerance, seedling vigor and emergence.  Dent kernels on a medium long ear with medium length shank and good grain quality.  The flex is fixed so population should be kept somewhat higher.  GG 3789 has good stalk quality and root rating.  Plant for 26,000 P.P.A. at harvest.  Good seed supply.

GG 4827 - 78 days 2550 C.H.U.

Medium tall to tall hybrid on a very good stalk with erect leaves and with a long slender flex ear.  Very good root mass, test weight, seedling vigor and drought resistance.  Very good yield potential; will do best as a combine corn.  Plant for 24,000 P.P.A. at harvest.  Limited seed supply.

GG 2382 - 81 days 2600 C.H.U.

Once again 2382 has shown that it is hard to beat in this maturity and is the perfect choice for growers unsure of whether the field will be used for silage or combining.  This hybrid is medium to medium tall with a semi flex ear with very good stalks, seedling vigor and root mass.  Some degree of stay-green.  Equal use for grain or silage.  Also it shows a good resistance to drought.  2382 has a girthy, fairly long ear.  Nearing harvest, the husks fluff open and the ear hangs down.  This hybrid is good for picking.  Plant for 26,000 P.P.A. at harvest.  Excellent seed supply.

GG 3859 - 83 days 2650 C.H.U.

Medium tall hybrid with outstanding yield and stalk strength.  For growers that are looking for a combine corn in this heat range, GG3859 would be the perfect companion for GG2382.  Excellent grain quality kernels on a girthy ear.  It canopies quickly and has fixed flex ears on a short shank.  High yield with very good dry down.  Plant health, emergence, vigor, and stay-green are all very good.  Plant for 26,000 - 26,500 P.P.A. at harvest.  Good seed supply.

GG 3879 - 85 days 2725 C.H.U.

Medium height plant with medium ear height with a short shank.  A hybrid for grain rather than silage.  Dent kernels on a semi flex ear with very good grain quality, medium, long slender ears.  Excellent dry down, plant health, seedling vigor, stalk strength, grain quality and yield.  Very good drought tolerance and emergence.  Plant for 27,000 P.P.A. at harvest.  Good seed supply.

GG 3909 - 88 days 2775 C.H.U.

A tall hybrid with outstanding yield potential.  In the harvest of 2008 in an average of 37 locations GG3909 outyielded the average yield of all the plots by 11% and was drier by 0.7%.  It has fast drydown in a medium girthy ear.  The plants display a more upright style of leaves with a real dark rich green colour.  The flex ear height is medium high and ear shank is medium short.  Plant for 26,500 P.P.A. at harvest.  Good seed supply.

GG 2395 - 93 days 2850 C.H.U.

This hybrid continues to be a good variety.  Medium tall plant with a semi-flex ear.  Good test weight with large kernels which makes it an excellent choice for high moisture or cob meal.  Good stalks, roots and seedling vigor extends right through to harvest with good plant health.  Some degree of stay-green.  Open husks in the fall.  Plant for 26,000 P.P.A. at harvest.  Good seed supply.

SILAGE SPECIFIC VARIETIES FOR 2010

The following three varieties have been developed and bred to be used strictly for silage and can be used for high moisture kernels or cob meal.  The grower can benefit from these hybrids with softer kernels and high yielding ears. They have more leaves than usual and produce readily digestible silage.  The three varieties have reduced rind thickness for softer, more digestible stalks to enhance the efficient digestion in the rumen.

GS 5859 - 84 days 2600-2700 C.H.U.

This hybrid is early flowering and very adaptable to a fairly wide heat unit range.  GS5859 is the newest member of this group and is also the earliest.  Medium tall and quite leafy.  Impressive yield potential with a heavy root mass.  Plant for 27,000 P.P.A. at harvest.  Good seed supply.

GS 5909 - 87 days 2750 - 2850 C.H.U.

High yielding medium tall dark green plant for silage only.  Good feed quality and deep kernels.  Good plant health right through until silage harvest.  Very bushy plant with big wide leaves.  This variety has a higher sugar and starch content than the average hybrid.  Plant for 27,500 P.P.A. at harvest.  Good seed supply.

GS 5959 - 93 days 2800-2950 C.H.U.

A high yielding silage corn.  Fixed flex girthy long ears.  18 rows of deep kernels.  Higher sugar and starch content than normal hybrids.  Tall, big wide leaves on a dark green plant that canopies very quickly.  Very good plant health at harvest.  Medium-long blocky ears that provide a good grain to stover ratios in silage.   Plant for 27,500 P.P.A. at harvest.  Fairly good seed supply.

2010 SILO FILLER CORN

The silo filler brands that you have to offer your customers are bagged in several heat unit ranges and are comprised of two or three hybrids of like maturities.  Each of the maturity lots is available for plateless planters.  Usually each maturity is available in one sized lot and there is no guarantee that we can match a particular plate.

**Please mark the plate size if you have to have sized seed or if plateless is OK.**
